Convert call recordings to text

• Android: many phones (Samsung, Xiaomi, Google Pixel in some countries) have call recording in the Phone app. Files are saved as M4A, MP3 or AMR in the recordings folder.
• iPhone: since iOS 18.1 you can record a call from the call screen itself; the other person hears a notice and the recording is saved in the Notes app, where you can share it or save it to Files.
• Internet calls (WhatsApp, Teams, Zoom, Meet): usually sound better than a phone line. Use the platform's own recording when available.

A classic phone line only carries a narrow band of frequencies, so the voice arrives with less detail than in a normal recording. It transcribes well, but this is where it's most worth checking names, numbers, addresses and dates. Internet calls and good-quality speakerphone recordings give better results.

Call recording rules vary a lot between countries and states: in some it's enough for one party to know, in others recording without everyone's consent is prohibited (in Germany, for example, it's a criminal offense).
